Vesty and new projects
marzo 13, 2010

I finally finished my vesty and I was really surprised when I tried it on and saw it fitted perfectly, even the ribbed collar! The pattern notes from CanarySanctuary where very intuitive and I had tons of fun knitting it 🙂 This will get tons of wear, I haven’t taken it off since I finished it!

Klematis Vesty

Yarn: Handpaintedyarn.com Double Knit in klematis color. Lovely yarn, soft, smooshy and bouncy, in a beautifully vibrant color.
Needles: Denise Interchangeable Knitting Needles size 4mm for body and 3.75mm for armhole and neck ribbing
Pattern: Sexy Vesty by CanarySanctuary
Mods: made the body a bit longer, I wanted my belly completely covered

In the meantime, I started a bag that caught my eye quite a long time ago: the Brea Bag. I hadn’t started it sooner because I was oh so very scared of cables… But since I decided I want to knit this jacket, I had to start with cables some day. And I found out I love cables! They are fun to do and look great.

I wanted to just practice cables, so I choose a fugly yarn in my stash: plum wine Caron Simply Soft that had been rotting home for a couple of years. When I finished the front part of the bag I was so excited that I just needed to finish the rest of the bag, nevermind the yarn and color 😛

Right now the bag is nearly finished. The parts have been sewed together with crab stitch and I spent 6 hours fighting with the lining. I HATE lining bags, ugh! I just need to sew the lining to the bag now, but it’s a big small, it hasn’t got the right shape… I don’t know what to do, but I know I am not able to do a better lining, so… I’ll just sew this one in and see what happens!

A couple of days ago I got a package with new yummy yarn, so new projects are around the corner. I got me some skeins of Spud & Chloë sweater grass yarn to make the uber cute Sprout Blanket for Mario, the little son of a good friend. I will start this as soon as the bag is finished.

I also received some skeins of Cascade 220 Superwash in Lake Chelan Heather for making the famous Mrs Darcy Cardigan. I love this color, it’s so rich and intense. Such a pity that all pictures around look like a dull green instead.

I’m waiting for some lighter yarn in order to make a couple of summer camis, hope the package arrives soon 😀
