I had wanted to knit a Citron for a long time, and I finally made it 🙂 I named it Blutorangenscheibe, which means “slice of red orange”, because the colors make the shawl look like that

Yarn: Schoppel-Wolle Lace Ball. beautiful yarn, so soft, airy, light and easy to knit with! the colors are just to die for
Needles: Denise Interchangeable Knitting Needles size 3.75mm
Pattern: Citron by Hilary Smith Kallis
Mods: none. for the M1 I knitted in the back loop. I blocked the ruffle with pointy edges, for a different look. it worked perfect
Comments: I love this little shawl, it’s so wearable. I usually wear jeans and t-shirts, and this goes perfect

Catching up
abril 17, 2010

Oh my… I got too lazy and didn’t update my blog for a month, and I’ve been on a knitting high! Let’s check what I’ve finished and what I have on the go…

Mamut Pi

Yarn: Katia Trico-fieltro. 2 skeins in lilac and 2 skeins in purple. My friend Sun sent me this yarn as a present, so I could make my kitties something comfy
Needles: Denise Interchangeable Knitting Needles size 10mm
Pattern: Kitty Pi by Wendy D. Johnson
Mods: none
Comments: I was shoooooooort on yarn, so it did come up a bit smaller than what my big cats need. They love it anyway 🙂

Lotus Bag

Yarn: Caron Simply Soft in Plum Wine. This yarn was a present from a couple of years back
Needles: Denise Interchangeable Knitting Needles size 5.5mm
Pattern: Brea Bag by Norah Gaughan
Mods: I shortened the sides of the moss stitch, so the metal rings would be closer to the bag
Comments: I started the bag with this yarn because I wanted to give a try to cables, I wasn’t expecting to finish it… but then I finished one side and it looke good, so it needed to be finished. I’m not that happy about the color, but I love this bag. My lining could be much better, but it works and the zipper works too. I have been wearing this bag since I finished it 🙂

Sprouts for Mario

Yarn: Spud & Chloë Sweater in Grass. This yarn is lovely to work with, and so soft 🙂
Needles: Denise Interchangeable Knitting Needles size 5mm
Pattern: Sprout Blanket by Hanna Breetz
Mods: none
Comments: Knitting this blanket was so much fun. First time working from charts and it’s quite easy, as long as I don’t mess with rows (which I did, lol). The finished blanket is a lovely thing and the friends I gave it to love it. They say their little boy, Mario, doesn’t want to let the blankie go!

Purple Sand

Yarn: Berroco Seduce in Muscari. Soft and incredibly drapey yarn
Needles: Denise Interchangeable Knitting Needles size 4mm and 4.5mm
Pattern: Sand Dollar by Tanya Alpert
Mods: none
Comments: This came out big. Huge. I made the smallest size and I could fit a whale in that top, I swear. It does really look ok because the yarn has such a drape, but if I pull from the sides, it stretches to the unbelievable. I love it because of the yarn, but if I were to knit this again with other yarn I would surely mod it to make it smaller.

Dáli’s Balthazar Vest

Yarn: Caron Simply Soft Brites in Coconut
Needles: Denise Interchangeable Knitting Needles size 3.75mm and 4mm
Pattern: Balthazar Vest by Wenlan Chia
Mods: went down yarn weight and needle size to fit my 1/3 doll
Comments: I love Wenlan Chia’s chunky knits, but I don’t think they’d fit me. I thought that, going down in needles and yarn weight, this may fit my doll, and it did, perfectly. It looks easy, but the pattern is a mess. I ended up winding up the short rows in the sleeve caps because the instructions were so vague…

Chicago Capelet

Yarn: Cascade Magnum in Walnut Heather
Needles: Denise Interchangeable Knitting Needles size 10mm
Pattern: Magnum Capelet #2 by Karen Clements
Mods: I can’t find 15mm needles around here, so I followed Julie’s mods and knitted a size bigger with 10mm needles
Comments: Cozy a fitted, I’ve been wearing this capelet daily. Cascade Magnum is soft and yummy, but it smells strangely when wet

And that’s it! I’ll be back soon to post my beautiful Blutorangescheibe Citron, which is currently blocking on my yoga mat ^^ You have to love Zauberballs, just look at the gorgeous colors!

And since the Citron is done, I just started an online KAL with my friend Sun. We are doing Hobo by Martin Storey in cotton 🙂
