yarn: light dk or sock
gauge: 5 stiches x 7 rows = 2cm / 6 stitches x 8 rows = 1″
note: I’m a very tight knitter. If you are a normal/looser knitter, I’ll suggest going down a needle size. you can make the the 1×1 rib and check how it fits the head of your doll, then choose your needle size consequently

I followed the brim instructions for this hat with some variations

with 3.5mm dpns, pick up 4 stitches on the cast on of the hat’s body
row 1 (WS): purl to the end, pick up 2 stitches and put on right needle
row 2 (RS): k3, m1, pm, k2, pm, m1, k1, pick up 2 stitches and put on right needle
row 3: purl to the end, pick up 1 stitch and put on right needle
row 4: knit to marker, m1, sm, k to marker, sm, m1, k to the end, pick up 1 stitch and put on right needle
row 5: purl to the end, pick up 1 stitch and put on right needle
row 6: bind off all stitches. with last bound off stitch on right needle, pick up 1 stitch and put on right needle. bind off those 2 stitches
weave in ends and enjoy! if you knit in wool or wool blend, you can block it for a neater crown and brim, but it’s not necessary 🙂
I will try to edit this pattern and make it nicer, maybe even make a pdf.
